The Short Version
If you only read one thing, read this
We're a publisher, not your lawyer or accountant

Reviews and recommendations are informational. Before signing annual software contracts or restructuring operations, evaluate against your own requirements and consult licensed professionals where appropriate.

Read, share links, quote briefly — all welcome

Personal reading, social shares, and 1–2 sentence excerpts with proper attribution and a link back are encouraged. Republishing wholesale, scraping for commercial use, or training AI models on the content requires written permission.

Affiliate links are real, disclosed, and don't move rankings

Many outbound vendor links are affiliate links. Disclosure runs at the top of every page that contains one. Editorial opinions are never influenced by affiliate relationships — products we dislike get critical reviews, products we love get positive ones, regardless of commission.

Liability cap is $100, Louisiana law governs

If something on the site causes harm, aggregate liability is capped at one hundred U.S. dollars. Disputes resolve in Louisiana state or federal courts. Standard publisher terms — same shape as Wirecutter, NerdWallet, and Consumer Reports.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of contractortoolstack.com (the "Site") operated by Contractor ToolStack, LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

What This Site Is

Contractor ToolStack is an independent editorial publication that reviews contractor software, AI tools, and related technology. We write for roofers, HVAC contractors, plumbers, electricians, painters, general contractors, and other trades professionals making technology decisions for their businesses.

We are not a software vendor, a reseller, a broker, a certified advisor, or an authorized representative of any product we review. We're a publisher with opinions based on research and experience.

Editorial Content Disclaimer

Our reviews, comparisons, guides, and recommendations reflect our good-faith analysis at the time of publication. Software products change constantly — pricing shifts, features launch, companies get acquired, and our understanding evolves. While we update content regularly, we cannot guarantee that every detail is current or accurate when you read it.

Each review is labeled as either hands-on (we've used the product in real operations) or research-based (our analysis draws on product documentation, customer reviews, and third-party sources). You'll find this label in each review's metadata. See our How We Review page for our full methodology.

Not Professional Advice

Content on this Site is provided for informational purposes only and should not be construed as:

  • Legal advice
  • Financial or investment advice
  • Tax advice
  • Accounting advice
  • Business operations consulting specific to your situation
  • Any other form of professional advice requiring a licensed practitioner

Before making significant business decisions — purchasing software on annual contracts, restructuring operations around new tools, or committing to long-term vendor relationships — you should evaluate products against your own specific requirements and consult qualified professionals where appropriate. The information on this Site is a starting point for your research, not a substitute for due diligence.

Affiliate Relationships

We participate in affiliate programs with many of the products we review. When you click a link on our Site and subsequently sign up for or purchase a product, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Our editorial independence is the foundation of this Site. Affiliate commissions never influence our ratings, rankings, or recommendations. Products we dislike get critical reviews regardless of whether we earn from them. Products we love get positive reviews regardless of whether they have an affiliate program. See our How We Review page for how we keep editorial and affiliate concerns separate.

All affiliate links are disclosed clearly at the top of every page where they appear, in compliance with the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).

Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including written reviews, guides, graphics, logos, compilations of product data, scoring methodologies, and site design — is the property of Contractor ToolStack, LLC or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You May
  • Read content for personal, non-commercial use
  • Share links on social media or in personal communications
  • Quote brief excerpts (generally 1–2 sentences) with proper attribution and a link back to the source
You May Not
  • Republish, copy, or reproduce substantial portions of content without written permission
  • Use content to train machine learning models without written permission
  • Scrape or systematically extract data for commercial use
  • Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or attribution notices
  • Frame, embed, or wrap content within another website

Product logos, trademarks, and brand names referenced on the Site belong to their respective owners. Their use here is for identification and commentary purposes under fair use principles.

User-Submitted Content

If you submit feedback, corrections, suggestions, or other content to us (via email, contact form, or any other means), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, modify, and publish that content in connection with operating the Site. Don't submit anything you wouldn't want us to potentially reference or publish.

Community Polls

By submitting a vote, you confirm:

  • The vote reflects your honest assessment based on actual use of the product
  • You are not affiliated with any vendor in the category in a way that would create a conflict of interest
  • You're not casting multiple votes from different browsers, IPs, or accounts to manipulate scores

We reserve the right to invalidate votes that violate these terms. Repeat or coordinated abuse may result in IP block.

Verified Contractor Status

Verified contractor status is granted only after we confirm an active license on the corresponding state's public licensing database. Submitting false license information is grounds for immediate revocation and may be reported to the state licensing board.

Verified status is revocable at any time, by you (via /data-rights/) or by us if we discover the license was misrepresented or has lapsed.

Quote Display

If you opt into public quote display, you grant Contractor ToolStack a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display your quoted text alongside your verified attribution (first name + last initial, business name, state, trade, license number) on any page on this site or in any embed of our widgets. You can revoke this license at any time and we will remove the quote within 24 hours.

Embed Widget Usage

If you embed our widget on your site (via the snippet at /for-vendors/), you agree:

  • Not to modify the widget's code or override its behavior
  • Not to misrepresent the widget as your own first-party tool
  • Not to use the widget on sites with illegal, defamatory, or hateful content

We reserve the right to disable the widget on any embedding site that violates these terms.

Third-Party Links and Products

The Site contains links to third-party websites, products, and services we do not control. We are not responsible for:

  • The content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party site
  • Products or services you purchase from third parties (even via affiliate links)
  • Privacy practices, terms, or policies of third-party sites
  • Any losses or damages arising from your interactions with third parties

Your purchase of any software or service is a transaction between you and the vendor. Your recourse for problems with a product is with the vendor, not with us.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

We do not warrant that product information is complete, accurate, or current. Software vendors change pricing, features, and terms frequently. Always verify critical details (price, contract length, cancellation terms) directly with the vendor before making a purchase decision.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Louisiana, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we'll provide more prominent notice.
