The 2026 Contractor Software Pricing Report
A fifth of the contractor software market will not tell you what it costs. We track 23 products, read every vendor's pricing page each week, and check the archives before we claim anything changed. This is what the market actually charges, what it hides, and why the published numbers still cannot be compared to each other.
What we found
- 1 5 of 23 products (22%) will not tell you what they cost without a sales call. In field service management it is 3 of 9.
- 2 This is not a new trend, and we checked before saying so. Only Workiz can be shown to have removed published pricing during 2026. JobNimbus, FieldPulse and Buildertrend were already quote-only in September 2025, and ServiceTitan has never published.
- 3 Podium publishes a price unless you are an HVAC company. Core is $399 a month and Pro is $599, and both plans carry the line "HVAC businesses should contact sales for applicable pricing."
- 4 The real problem is not secrecy, it is that published prices are not comparable. Four incompatible pricing models are in use. Four tools covering identical work sit within $50 of each other at one user and $745 a month apart at fifteen.
- 5 Annual billing discounts run 15% to 41%, and only 8 of the 18 products that publish prices offer one at all.

Buildertrend Is contractor software pricing getting less transparent?
Less than it looks. Only one of the five — Workiz — can be shown to have removed its published pricing during 2026. We checked archived captures of every quote-only vendor's pricing page back to early 2025 before saying anything about a trend, and three of the other four were already quote-only in September 2025.
That matters for how a contractor should read this. Quote-only pricing is not a wave washing over the market this year; it is a settled practice at the top end, and it has been for a while. The thing that actually changed in 2026 is smaller and more specific, and it is in the table below.
| Vendor | Since | What is known |
|---|---|---|
| ServiceTitan | Always | Never published a public price. User-reported figures run roughly $245-$500 per technician per month, plus a $5,000-$50,000 implementation fee and a 12-month minimum. |
| Workiz | Changed 2026 | Removed published pricing during 2026: an archived capture of workiz.com/pricing-plans from June 2026 still showed rates and the live page no longer does. Last published rates were $225 Kickstart, $275 Standard, $325 Pro. The free Lite plan is gone and Genius Answering is sold separately. |
| FieldPulse | Before Sep 2025 | Seat-based but quote-only: the rate depends on what each seat needs access to. Previously reported around $65 per user per month. Archived captures from September 2025 and July 2026 both show no published prices, so this is not a 2026 change. |
| JobNimbus | Before Sep 2025 | Quote-only. Four tiers by headcount: Essentials up to 3 users, Pro up to 10, Premium up to 19, Enterprise 20+. 14-day trial, no setup fee. Archived captures of jobnimbus.com/pricing from June and September 2025 also show no prices, so this is a long-standing policy rather than a 2026 change. |
| Buildertrend | Before Sep 2025 | Quote-only, with 10% off for paying annually up front. Unlimited users and projects. Previously reported at $339-$829 per month by third parties. Archived captures from September 2025 and February 2026 also show no plan prices, so this is not a 2026 change. |
Live status read from each vendor's own pricing page, September 11, 2026. "Since" is established from archived captures of that same page on the Internet Archive, rendered rather than read as raw HTML, because these are JavaScript pages and the raw source understates what a visitor saw.
We wrote to all five on September 11, 2026 asking for a range we could publish. None of them is obliged to answer. If any of them sends one, it goes into this report and into the calculator, with their name on it.
What does contractor software cost in 2026?
Entry prices run from $8 a month for Invoicer.ai to $399 for Podium Core, with a median of $48. The chart below is every product in the index that publishes a price, ranked by its cheapest paid plan.
Read it with suspicion. Almost every one of these figures is quoted at a single user, and the model badge is what decides your real bill. Tradify's $47 is per person, so five people is $235 and fifteen is $705. ServiceM8's $29 covers your whole crew and never changes when you hire.

Cheapest paid plan at the annual rate where one is published, excluding free tiers. Verified September 11, 2026. Podium's $399 is its published Core rate; HVAC companies are told to contact sales instead.
An entry price tells you almost nothing. Our cost calculator applies these same verified figures at your headcount and job volume and names the cheapest tool that actually covers the work you need done.
Open the cost calculatorWhy can't you compare these prices side by side?
Because contractor software is sold four incompatible ways, and only one of them is indifferent to how many people work for you. A flat plan charges the company. A per-user plan multiplies by headcount. A base-plus-seat plan includes some users and charges for the rest. A usage plan bills per report, per call or per job.
The consequence is that the ranking reorders as a company grows. At one user, four tools covering the same three jobs sit within $50 of each other. At fifteen users the same four are $745 a month apart — $8,940 a year — with no change in what the software does. A buyer comparing sticker prices is comparing four different units of measurement and will pick wrong most of the time.
The worked examples, including the plan-boundary jumps that catch people mid-hire, are in the cost calculator write-up.
Which vendors discount annual billing, and by how much?
8 of the 18 products that publish prices offer a discount for paying yearly, and they run 15% to 41%. The deepest is Jobber at 41% off its Core plan. That is the largest single lever on this page: no negotiation, no sales call, and on a plan you were buying anyway.
Deepest discount published across that vendor's plans, September 11, 2026. Paying annually means paying up front; treat it as a cash-flow decision, not a free discount.
How we built this index
Every figure was read off the vendor's own pricing page and re-checked on September 11, 2026. We do not take prices from our own older reviews, from aggregator listings, or from another publication, because all three drift. An automated audit re-reads all 23 pricing pages weekly and flags anything that moved.
What the figures include: the software subscription only. What they exclude: card processing fees, implementation and onboarding charges, and most add-ons. Those exclusions matter at the top of the market — ServiceTitan's implementation alone runs $5,000 to $50,000 and appears in no monthly figure anywhere in this report.
Before claiming that a vendor's pricing changed, we check archived captures of that vendor's own pricing page on the Internet Archive, rendered in a browser rather than read as raw HTML — these are JavaScript pages and the raw source understates what a visitor actually saw. That check is why this report says only one vendor went quote-only in 2026 rather than four.
Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say so and publish what is known, labeled as last-published or reported. We do not estimate a number and present it as fact. No vendor was shown this report before it published, and no vendor can buy a price, a score, or a place in this index. How the site makes money is published in full on our disclosure page.
Corrections
We publish our mistakes rather than editing them out. Found something wrong? Tell us and it gets fixed and logged here.
- September 11, 2026 — first edition, corrected within hours of publishing
- The first version of this report said six of 23 vendors published no price and that four went quote-only during 2026. Both were wrong. Podium publishes Core at $399 and Pro at $599 on its own pricing page, so the count is five, not six. And archived captures show JobNimbus, FieldPulse and Buildertrend were already quote-only in September 2025, so Workiz is the only vendor that demonstrably changed during 2026. The error came from trusting our own earlier notes instead of checking the archive. Everything above reflects the corrected figures.

Questions about this report
How many contractor software vendors publish their prices? +
Eighteen of the twenty-three products in this index publish a price on their own website. Five do not: ServiceTitan, Workiz, FieldPulse, JobNimbus and Buildertrend. That is 22% of the products tracked, and in field service management specifically it is 3 of 9.
Is contractor software pricing getting less transparent? +
Less than the headlines suggest. We checked archived captures of each quote-only vendor's pricing page going back to early 2025. Only Workiz can be shown to have removed published pricing during 2026 — an archived capture from June 2026 still shows rates and the live page no longer does. JobNimbus, FieldPulse and Buildertrend were already quote-only in September 2025, and ServiceTitan has never published. Quote-only pricing in this market is a settled practice, not a new trend.
What is the cheapest contractor software that handles scheduling, estimates and invoicing? +
For a five-person crew at 60 jobs a month, ServiceM8's Growing plan at $79 a month is the cheapest option that covers all three, because it charges by job volume rather than by seat. A one-person shop under 30 jobs a month pays nothing on ServiceM8's free plan. Those figures move with crew size and job volume, which is what our cost calculator is for.
Is this report sponsored by any software vendor? +
No. Every price here was read off the vendor's own pricing page, and no vendor saw this report before it published. Contractor ToolStack does sell labeled vendor profiles and earns affiliate commissions, both disclosed in full, and neither buys a price, a score, or a place in this index.
How often is this pricing index updated, and how are errors handled? +
Every price is re-checked weekly against the vendor's live page, and the index carries the date each figure was last verified. When we get something wrong we correct it on the page and say what changed, rather than editing quietly. The corrections log at the foot of this report is the full record.
